Invitation to enter the Emma Raper Award

This is the first year that we will be presenting the Emma  Raper Award to the prize winner. As many of you will know the NOHPG wanted to remember Emma for her contribution to addressing good oral health for all. We would like to encourage you to share your work through a poster presentation which will be judged by the panel and awarded at the annual study day on the 14th June, in Bristol. The award winner will receive £100 and an engraved glass plaque to display. Please contact us in order to access the poster template should you need some guidance.

Chair Announces Name Change

It is with much sadness that we announce the sad loss of a former committee member Emma Raper. Our thoughts are with her family and friends at such a sad time. With the agreement of Emma herself, her family the committee the Chair Fiona Ellwood announced that the Patrons Prize will from 2019 be re-named as the Emma Raper Award in her memory – a fitting tribute to her work, passion and drive for oral health.

Homeless and Inclusion Oral Health Conference

Members of the NOHPG recently attended the Homeless and Inclusion Oral Health conference, a conference with an audience made up of multi-professional groups. The idea of the conference was to raise awareness of the oral health implications of homelessness and social exclusion and to highlight local initiatives around the country for marginalised and vulnerable people. NOHPG Supports the Eat well and move more Campaign

NOHPG are supporting the Change4life Campaign ‘Eat well and move more’ introduced by Public Health England This campaign will shine a light on snacks and snacking and look to encourage a reduction in the intake of sugary snacks – the idea is not o say no snacking but to reduce the number of unhealthy snacks  per day and in doing so addressing the the health harms of sugar-  child obesity and dental caries being two key health issues related to sugars.
